Trammell Crow Center – Commercial Interior – Dallas, TX

Originally built by Dee Brown in 1985 as the headquarters of Ling-Temco-Vought (LTV) the 50-story skyscraper opened in 1985 as the sixth largest building in Dallas. In 2017, DBI was hired to help renovate and refresh the office building, now known as the Trammell Crow Center. DBI utilized 175,000 square feet of polished and flamed granite faced precast on the exterior. Handset marble was meticulously set throughout the interior lobby. The original stone materials were removed and replaced during an extensive remodel of the lobby, entryway, and sitework over a 10-month period while the building remained open.

Judges commented: “The Jury recognized incredible control of the stone veining of the Noir St. Laurent marble, and the craftsmanship of the installation. The joints between panels are done masterfully. The contrasting stone with monochromatic grout is well executed. Exciting to see a new lobby project, with such a significant use of stone, successfully implemented in large format.”

Residential – Single Family - Highland Park, TX

This private residence in Highland Park, Texas, involved an open floorplan with the home’s center formed around the main entry. DBI took special care to cut the Indiana limestone slabs, holding tight tolerances for the horizontal grooves so they would line up even around the corners. The result was a clean finished product.

Judges commented: “This understated, modern house celebrates limestone. Core interior walls, clad with Indiana limestone panels, align seamlessly with exterior walls p creating a dynamic relationship between outdoor and indoor spaces. Tightly spaced, continuous horizontal panel grooves accentuate the illusion of alignment with exterior masonry, while enhancing the spacious feel of the open floor plan. Jurors marveled at the precision of the stone fabrication and installation."
